AI + pattern engines

An AI sewing pattern generator that does more than draw outlines

NotchGrain uses AI to interpret a design, but the sewing pattern itself is produced by governed pattern engines, construction rules and validation gates.

How NotchGrain approaches it

That distinction matters. Recognising a neckline, sleeve or trouser shape is not the same as drafting pieces that fit together and can be sewn. NotchGrain separates interpretation from pattern generation.

  1. 01AI interprets the garment reference.
  2. 02Governed libraries resolve supported garment and construction families.
  3. 03Pattern engines generate the actual pieces and construction geometry.
  4. 04Pattern Gate blocks unsupported or unrealised requirements.

Important

A reference image is not a promise that every detail is supported

NotchGrain checks the exact confirmed combination against its production capabilities. If a construction is not governed, the product must tell you before generation rather than quietly produce a different pattern.

Frequently asked questions

Can NotchGrain turn every clothing photo into a sewing pattern?

No. NotchGrain only generates a pattern when the recognised garment and construction details are supported by its governed pattern engines. Unsupported combinations are identified before pattern generation rather than silently substituted.

Can I use my own measurements?

Yes. You can use a standard size or Personal Fit with saved body measurements. Personal Fit is only delivered when the pattern engine can prove that the customer's measurements were actually realised.

What printable pattern formats are available?

NotchGrain supports printable A4 and US Letter output for home printing and A0 output for large-format copy-shop printing.
